My Cloud Resume Challenge Journey

The author took on the Cloud Resume Challenge, a hands-on project that transformed their understanding of cloud computing and security. With a background in video production and strategic communication, they wanted to pivot into cloud security. The challenge involved building a serverless resume website on AWS, automating its deployment, and implementing advanced security measures. The author successfully created a fully functional and secure website, showcasing their skills in AWS, Terraform, and CI/CD. The project involved using AWS services such as S3, CloudFront, Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB, as well as implementing security measures like DNSSEC, least privilege, WAF protection, and pipeline hardening. The author gained hands-on experience with AWS services, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD automation, and security principles. Despite facing challenges like IAM permission errors and console visibility issues, the author persisted and deepened their understanding of AWS and cloud security. The project resulted in a secure, production-ready application and a portfolio that showcases their skills. The author recommends taking the Cloud Resume Challenge to learn cloud computing and security, and is now studying for the AWS Solutions Architect certification and exploring new projects.
