GoPro’s Anamorphic lens makes it easy to get stylish cinematic action shots

GoPro has released its Anamorphic Lens Mod, completing the set of lenses announced with the Hero 13 action cam. The lens is designed for professional-level artistic filmmaking and attaches to the Hero 13, replacing the base lens. It's easy to install and comes with front and rear caps for safe storage. The lens is larger than the base lens, which may affect compatibility with some third-party cases and accessories. Once attached, the Hero 13 switches to the appropriate camera mode, maximizing settings and calibrating to the lens. The lens allows for capture of 5.3K video up to 60fps and 4K up to 120fps, as well as GP-Log in 10-bit. The Hero 13 de-squeezes footage in real-time, making editing easier, and the lens is compatible with GoPro's HyperSmooth image stabilization tech. The lens can capture lens flares, giving footage a cinematic look, but may be prone to damage and has limitations in low-light conditions. The Anamorphic Lens Mod is available for $130, or as part of a $350 bundle with other lenses and an ND filter. Overall, the lens is designed to provide high-quality, cinematic footage with ease of use.
