Rescue African artifacts from colonizers' museums in the heist game Relooted

Relooted is a heist game developed by Nyamakop, a South African studio, focused on reclaiming stolen African artifacts. The game is set in a future where Western nations are supposed to return plundered items, but are instead hiding them. Players control a Johannesburg-based crew planning and executing heists to retrieve these artifacts. Gameplay combines puzzle-solving and action, involving infiltration planning and heist execution, with escape requiring quick thinking. The game features 70 real-world artifacts currently held in Western collections. The game's inspiration stems from the fact that a vast percentage of sub-Saharan African cultural heritage resides outside of Africa. Nyamakop, one of the largest independent studios in the region, previously released Semblance. The studio faced challenges entering the global games market from South Africa, requiring extensive travel to showcase their work. Relooted is an African-developed game by a majority-POC team, targeting a largely unexplored African market. The developers believe it is important to make games for African audiences, exploring the potential of this market. The game is planned for release on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox Series X/S, with a release date to be announced.
