Head Of NY FBI Office Forced To Resign Amid Epstein File Controversy

The head of the New York Field Office, James Dennehy, was forced to resign from his position without being given a reason by Washington. Dennehy, a US Marine Corps veteran, submitted his retirement papers on Monday after being informed of the decision on Friday. He had previously told staffers to "dig in" after officials who investigated the January 6 riots at the US Capitol were forced out of their roles. The resignation comes after Attorney General Pam Bondi claimed that FBI agents out of the New York Field Office withheld thousands of documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case. Bondi had asked the FBI to release all the withheld files by Friday morning without omissions and to investigate why thousands of Epstein documents were withheld by the agency. The FBI had released the "Epstein Files" on Thursday, but the rollout was deemed a disappointment as it contained nothing new of import. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, who leads a House Republican task force on government transparency, also expressed disappointment with the release, stating that she and the task force were not given or reviewed the documents. Director Kash Patel responded to the criticism, stating that the FBI was entering a new era of integrity, accountability, and the pursuit of justice. Patel also promised that there would be no cover-ups, no missing documents, and no stone left unturned. The incident has sparked controversy and raised questions about the handling of the Epstein case and the transparency of the FBI.
