Is Tesla screwed?

Elon Musk has expressed anger over the One Big Beautiful Bill Act on his social media platform X, but investors are more concerned about Tesla's weak delivery results for its electric vehicles. The company delivered just over 384,000 vehicles in the second quarter, a 13% decrease from the previous year. This has led to a decline in Tesla's brand perception, with 35.2% of Americans now holding a negative view of the company. Musk's personal popularity has also taken a hit, with many people moving from being neutral to actively disliking him. Analysts believe his continued engagement in US politics is only making things worse. Despite this, there are some positive signs, with the number of deliveries beating estimates and the company planning to release a lower-cost Model Y in the second half of the year. However, Tesla faces significant challenges in China, where it is facing growing competition from Chinese automakers like BYD. The elimination of the EV tax credit and tariffs from China on battery materials will also make things more difficult for Tesla. Despite these challenges, some analysts remain bullish on Tesla's future, believing that Musk can turn the company around.
