Cinemark is adding more 70mm IMAX screens ahead of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey

The movie industry is struggling, with home viewing gaining popularity over the theatrical experience. Despite the challenges, many still appreciate the immersive experience of watching a film in a theater. To combat this trend, theaters like Cinemark are investing in enhanced viewing formats. Cinemark is building new IMAX screens, including those capable of projecting 70mm film. These new screens will be located in select US cities and equipped with advanced technology. The company intends to have these IMAX 70mm screens ready by July 17, 2026. This date coincides with the release of Christopher Nolan's film, *The Odyssey*, shot entirely in IMAX. IMAX 70mm provides audiences with a premium, large-format experience. This format, and others like VistaVision, is attracting audiences to theaters. Demand for these experiences, like IMAX 70mm screenings of Nolan's films, has proven high.
