200MP iPhone Camera Not Yet in Active Prototype Testing, Says Leaker

A prominent leaker clarifies that a 200-megapixel camera isn't actively being tested in Apple's current iPhone prototypes. While supply chain discussions involve such sensors, they haven't made it to the development phase. Apple is, instead, focused on refining 48-megapixel camera systems for upcoming iPhones. This contrasts with a report suggesting a 200-megapixel camera might arrive by 2028. The leaker previously acknowledged Apple's potential interest in a 200-megapixel sensor. Samsung already uses a 200-megapixel camera in its high-end phones. Current Pro-series prototypes are testing 48-megapixel main and telephoto cameras with advanced features. These upgrades, to appear in the iPhone 18 Pro, prioritize optical improvements over raw resolution. The 200-megapixel sensors, sourced from Samsung, are only in an evaluation stage. Apple is also exploring multispectral imaging technology, though testing hasn't commenced yet.
