2027 iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e to Get 9GB RAM and A20 Chip
The upcoming lower-end iPhone 18 models, expected in spring 2027, will see a RAM increase to 9GB. This upgrade is from the current 8GB found in lower-end models. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports the A20 chip will utilize a new die configuration for this enhanced memory. Specifically, it will feature 1.5GB x 6 dies, contrasting with the 2GB x 4 dies in current iPhone 17 models. The iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e are believed to be the specific devices receiving this RAM boost. Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, launching this fall, are expected to retain 12GB of RAM. This increase in RAM for the lower-end models is intended to better support AI workloads. It will also ensure compatibility with upcoming Apple Intelligence features in iOS 27. The report also touches on recent price increases for Macs and iPads. Given this trend, it is likely that the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e will also experience a price hike upon their release.
