4 Things to know about Iran’s nuclear program after the U.S. and Israeli strikes

The US and Israel have attacked Iran's nuclear program, but the extent of the damage is still unclear. US President Donald Trump claims that three targets were "obliterated," while his defense secretary says they were "destroyed." However, a preliminary report by the US Defense Intelligence Agency suggests that the strikes did significant damage but did not totally destroy the facilities. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has reported extensive damage at several nuclear sites in Iran. Israel claims that the strikes have set back Iran's nuclear program by "many years," but officials and experts are still assessing the damage. The location of Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium is unknown, and the state of the centrifuges that enrich the fuel is also unclear. The IAEA believes that significant damage was done to centrifuges at the Natanz and Fordo enrichment facilities. Iran has enriched significant quantities of uranium beyond civilian use, and Israel and the US have accused Iran of trying to develop atomic weapons. The US and Israel have since agreed to a ceasefire with Iran. The extent of the damage to Iran's nuclear program is still disputed, with some saying it has been set back by years and others saying it has only been set back by a few months.
