Artificial intelligence is evolving to enhance team collaboration, moving beyond individual task efficiency. User experience research analyzed 17 agentic platforms, identifying key features for optimized teamwork. The study revealed eight capability patterns leading to three key outcomes: faster progress, smarter work, and maintained control. These patterns encompass status updates, work routing, team communication, and role-specific agents within existing communication tools. Conversational context awareness and role-based access control are also vital, alongside governed environments and collaborative agent creation. Key observations included AI integration within chat platforms, the growing importance of governance, and team-based agent development. The most successful platforms focus on designing a unified team experience rather than isolated agent capabilities. GitLab's DevSecOps lifecycle presents a significant advantage due to its integrated, single-platform workflow. GitLab Duo Agent Platform leverages this advantage, enabling seamless agent execution throughout the entire software development lifecycle. This allows teams to orchestrate tasks effectively while agents handle execution, promoting efficiency and control.
