AI Catalog updates for governance and operations

Enterprise AI adoption is often hindered by a lack of visibility into what AI tools are running and who deployed them. GitLab 19.1 introduces event-driven triggers for Duo Flows, enabling continuous and automated AI workflows. Previously, all triggers required manual human action, limiting programmatic integration and scheduled execution. These new triggers allow flows to run automatically when defined conditions are met, such as a merge request conflict detection or when marked ready for review. Additional triggers include merge request approval and work item creation, streamlining processes like compliance checks and incident creation. Pipeline events can now be filtered by specific states like failure or success, preventing unnecessary alerts. Two new settings empower administrators to disable custom agents and restrict the AI catalog to their group hierarchy, preventing unauthorized AI content. Flow misconfigurations are now caught upstream with validation against the Duo Workflow Service before flows are saved. A public beta feature allows admins to create an allowlist of approved AI models, providing greater control over AI usage. These updates enable AI flows to operate continuously and reliably, with enhanced governance and developer feedback mechanisms.
