AirPods Max 2: Everything We Know So Far
The second-generation Apple AirPods Max are anticipated to be lighter than the current model. Analysts Ming-Chi Kuo and Mark Gurman both predict a new version is coming. Mass production is expected to begin in 2027, seven years after the initial launch. While a USB-C port and new colors were added in 2024, these are still considered first-generation. The AirPods Max currently lack the H2 chip found in AirPods Pro 2, missing features like Adaptive Audio. Potential upgrades for the new model could include IP57 water resistance and the H2 chip. Other possible features borrowed from AirPods Pro could be dual-band connectivity and lossless audio support. Advanced hearing-related functions like Hearing Test and Conversation Boost might also be included. A refreshed design is likely, with a potential redesign for the Smart Case. The possibility of an "H3" chip and IR cameras exists by 2027.
