Alexa+ is now available nationwide, with a free text-based version for non-Prime members to try

Amazon has released its advanced AI assistant, Alexa+, across the US. It's available for $20 monthly, or free for Prime members. Non-Prime members can try it with a free, text-based chat option. Alexa+ has been in early access and its update now rolls out nationwide. Prime members activate Alexa+ by voice command or via the Alexa website. The website also provides a free chat option with usage restrictions. Amazon strategically links Alexa+ with Prime, hoping to attract subscribers. Alexa+ offers complex, natural interactions and new agentic functions. This includes schedule management, recommendations, reservations, and smart home control. The AI personalizes itself by analyzing user digital activity, aiming to give more relevant answers. A preview last summer highlighted potential inconsistencies.
