Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched new Amazon EC2 I8ge instances in its Europe (London) and Canada (Central) regions. These instances feature the latest AWS Graviton4 processors, offering a significant performance boost. They provide up to 60% better compute performance than previous Graviton2-based storage-optimized EC2 instances. The I8ge instances utilize third-generation AWS Nitro SSDs and local NVMe storage. This combination delivers up to 55% improved real-time storage performance per terabyte compared to older Im4gn instances. Customers can expect up to 60% lower storage I/O latency and significantly reduced latency variability. These storage-optimized instances offer substantial local NVMe storage capacity, up to 120TB. They are well-suited for workloads requiring fast local storage with high performance and low latency for large datasets. With eleven different sizes available, including metal options, these instances offer flexibility for various computational needs. They also provide high network bandwidth, up to 180 Gbps, and dedicated EBS bandwidth of 60 Gbps.
