Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP now supports Amazon S3 access

Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP now supports attaching Amazon S3 Access Points. This allows users to access their FSx for NetApp ONTAP file data as if it were stored in S3. This integration makes FSx for NetApp ONTAP data compatible with a wide array of AI, machine learning, and analytics services that work with S3. Your data remains on your FSx for NetApp ONTAP file system while gaining S3 accessibility. FSx for NetApp ONTAP is a fully managed NetApp ONTAP file system service in the cloud. S3 Access Points provide a way to manage and simplify data access controls for various applications and users. This new feature enables faster innovation and better data-driven decisions by leveraging existing AWS analytics and AI services. Examples of services that can now utilize this data include Amazon Bedrock for generative AI and Amazon SageMaker for machine learning model training. Users can create S3 Access Points for new FSx for NetApp ONTAP file systems via the FSx console, AWS CLI, or SDK. Support for existing file systems will be rolled out during a future maintenance window, and this capability is available in select AWS Regions.
