Amazon Redshift RG instances n... Note

Amazon Redshift RG instances now available in AWS GovCloud (US) Regions

Amazon Redshift RG instances, featuring AWS Graviton processors, are now accessible in AWS GovCloud (US-West) and AWS GovCloud (US-East) Regions. These RG instances offer a significant performance boost, accelerating data warehouse and data lake workloads by up to 2.4 times compared to previous RA3 instances. They also achieve a 30% reduction in cost per vCPU. RG instances incorporate Redshift's specialized vectorized data lake query engine. This engine processes Apache Iceberg and Parquet data directly on cluster nodes. This integration allows for unified SQL analytics across both data warehouse and data lake environments. Customers can choose from two RG instance sizes: rg.xlarge and rg.4xlarge. Existing RA3 clusters can be seamlessly upgraded to RG instances through methods like Snapshot & Restore or Elastic and Classic Resize. Flexible pricing is available, including On-Demand, and 1-year or 3-year Reserved Instances with various upfront payment structures. Further details on pricing and upgrade procedures are provided in the accompanying documentation and pricing page.
