Amazon S3 Vectors is now generally available with 40 times the scale of preview

Amazon S3 Vectors, the first cloud object storage to natively handle vectors, is now generally available for AI applications. It offers optimized, cost-effective storage for billions of vectors, reducing total costs by up to 90%. Users can store and query two billion vectors per index, scaling to ten thousand indexes per bucket. Queries are fast, with infrequent ones returning in under a second and frequent ones under 100 milliseconds. The service supports a write throughput of 1,000 vectors per second and retrieves up to 100 search results per query. Vector buckets, a new bucket type, provide durable, low-cost storage without infrastructure provisioning. Data is encrypted by default using server-side encryption, with options for AWS KMS managed keys. S3 Vectors integrates with Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Bases and Amazon OpenSearch Service. It is now available in 14 AWS Regions, expanding from its previous preview availability.
