Amazon WorkSpaces simplifies secure AI agent access to enterprise cloud desktops with less infrastructure to operate and manage
AWS WorkSpaces now simplifies AI agent connections to cloud desktops through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This managed service handles authentication and desktop connections, eliminating the need for custom code. Agents can now connect using OAuth 2.0 with existing AWS credentials, as the service manages the entire session lifecycle. Previously, agents required manual management of streaming URLs and presession requirements, which is now automated. You configure the desktop stack once, and agents automatically connect without handling streaming details. The service allows querying session state for visibility into agent connections and activity. Agents can now discover and launch applications programmatically via an MCP Tool catalog. This replaces manual navigation, improving accuracy and reducing token costs for agents working with multiple applications. WorkSpaces for AI agents operates within existing enterprise network isolation and compliance boundaries. The service has also expanded its availability to four new AWS Regions.
