Sophie Turner has been cast as Lara Croft in the upcoming Prime Video Tomb Raider series, officially announced over two years ago. The Game of Thrones actress expressed excitement for the role, acknowledging the legacy of previous portrayals by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander. Filming for the series is scheduled to commence on January 19th. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is the creator, writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner for the project. Chad Hodge will also serve as a co-showrunner alongside Waller-Bridge. Hodge is known for his work on "Good Behavior" and "Single All the Way." Waller-Bridge brings significant experience in action-oriented projects, having created "Killing Eve" and co-written a James Bond film. She also appeared in the recent Indiana Jones movie, a franchise that inspired Tomb Raider. Amazon is also publishing the next installment of the Tomb Raider video game franchise. Crystal Dynamics, the developer of the mainline Tomb Raider games since 2003, is working on this new title.
