An Avatar fighting game is coming out in summer 2026
A new fighting game based on the Avatar universe, tentatively titled "Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game," was announced at New York Comic Con. Developed by Gameplay Group International, the game is slated for a summer 2026 release, with a trailer showcasing pre-alpha gameplay reminiscent of Street Fighter. The game will launch with 12 characters and introduce more through seasonal updates, as per the Steam page. It will feature a unique fighting system, incorporating a "flow system" and support characters for special moves. The game aims to capture the energy of classic fighting games, emphasizing fluidity, responsiveness, and online integrity. Players can expect combo trials, a gallery mode, and crossplay functionality across various platforms. Beyond online battles, the game will include an original single-player campaign for those who prefer a solo experience. This fighting game offers a promising alternative to the upcoming Paramount AAA RPG based on the Avatar franchise. The developer's experience with fighting games suggests a strong foundation for the title's success. It is being developed by a different team than the one responsible for the poorly received "Avatar: The Last Airbender - Quest for Balance."
