The rapid evolution of herbicide-resistant weeds necessitates new resistance traits to sustain control efficacy. Here the authors discover and engineer a bacterial P450 peroxygenase that degrades auxin herbicides, and create a transgenic rice resistant to a commercialized auxin herbicide.
