Announcing the General Availability of the Azure Arc Gateway for Arc-enabled Kubernetes!

Arc gateway for Azure Arc-enabled Kubernetes is now generally available, simplifying network configurations. It drastically reduces the number of outbound endpoints from 18 to 9, streamlining onboarding. This reduction minimizes the need for proxy/firewall approvals, saving time. Arc gateway accelerates value by simplifying operations with a consistent pattern for traffic routing. It introduces an Azure resource (Arc gateway) and the Azure Arc Proxy component within the agent. Traffic flows from the Kubernetes agent through the Arc Proxy, then an enterprise proxy, and finally to the Arc gateway. The gateway then forwards traffic to the appropriate Azure services. Supported scenarios include cluster connect, resource view, custom locations, and Azure Policy. Customer-specific data plane destinations might still require allow-listing. Getting started involves creating an Arc gateway resource, allowing the endpoint, and updating clusters. No new software installation is required for the Arc Proxy. While GA supports key scenarios, data plane endpoints must sometimes be configured. Arc gateway for servers and Azure Local are already generally available. User feedback is welcomed to improve and expand the service.
