Another year, another Figma pricing update

Figma is altering its pricing structure again in 2025, impacting users with increased costs for full seats. The changes, effective March 11th, 2025, include a new "collab" seat and a price hike across all plans, most significantly affecting the Professional plan. This increase is justified by the mandatory inclusion of Figma Slides and FigJam in the full seat, regardless of user need. Many users already possess alternative tools for presentations and brainstorming, making this bundled offering redundant and costly. The price increases range from 20% to 33%, causing significant concern within the design community, particularly for freelancers. Figma's rationale centers on integrating its product suite, potentially due to underperformance of Slides and FigJam. The new pricing model resembles Adobe's subscription strategy. However, Figma has addressed previous user complaints by implementing admin approval for seat upgrades, preventing unintentional billing issues. A new "Connected Projects" feature will improve collaboration between freelancers and agencies, eliminating unnecessary license duplication. Despite the negative reactions, Figma's core design tool remains highly valued, but the frequent pricing changes are a source of frustration for many.
