Apple Announces MacBook Air With M5 Chip and 512GB Base Storage

Apple has revealed updated MacBook Air models equipped with the new M5 chip. The M5 chip boasts a 10-core CPU with remarkably fast cores. It incorporates up to 10 GPU cores and upgraded Neural Accelerators for accelerated AI tasks, offering a potential 4x performance boost. Enhanced shader cores and a third-generation ray-tracing engine contribute to improved graphics capabilities. The chip also features faster unified memory with 153GB/s bandwidth, significantly improving performance. The updated MacBook Air includes Apple's N1 wireless chip, enabling Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 connectivity. Base storage capacity has been increased to 512GB, with options up to 4TB, and the SSD now offers double the read and write speeds. Pre-orders begin March 4th, with availability starting March 11th. The new MacBook Air models have a starting price of $1,099, reflecting a $100 increase from the previous generation.
