Apple Card Turns Seven With Big Change Ahead

Today marks the seventh anniversary of the Apple Card's U.S. launch, a credit card managed through the iPhone's Wallet app. Its features include color-coded spending summaries, no fees, and daily cash back rewards. Apple Card holders also have access to a high-yield savings account. However, a significant change is on the horizon for the Apple Card. In early 2028, Chase will take over as the new issuer, replacing the current issuer, Goldman Sachs. Goldman Sachs is exiting its consumer lending business due to financial losses. Apple reportedly ended its contract with Goldman Sachs early. Chase, owned by J.P. Morgan, will assume responsibility for Apple Card balances. Goldman Sachs will continue providing customer service during the interim period. Mastercard will remain the payment network for the Apple Card. Further transition details will be communicated to cardholders closer to the changeover date. The Apple Card currently remains exclusively available in the United States.
