Apple 'Concerned' Over iPhone 18 Pro Data Leak From Supplier Tata
Apple is reportedly concerned about a significant data leak originating from its Indian manufacturing partner, Tata Electronics. A cyberattack on Tata Electronics resulted in the theft and subsequent sharing of confidential Apple documents on the dark web. The stolen information includes details, component designs, and images pertaining to the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. At least six files reveal hundreds of iPhone 18 Pro components, featuring insights into chips, batteries, and cameras. These leaked files bear "confidential" Apple watermarks and internal codenames for the devices. The leaked images display a grey handset with a triple-rear-camera setup, resembling some rumors about the iPhone 18 Pro's design. Tata Electronics, a growing supplier for Apple, is crucial in the company's diversification efforts away from China. The manufacturer disclosed the incident last week, confirming over 200,000 files were compromised by the ransom group World Leaks. Apple is actively investigating the breach and collaborating with Tata to implement enhanced long-term security measures. This incident could potentially strain Apple's relationship with Tata Electronics due to the sensitive nature of the leaked information.
