Apple Loses Another Top Executive to OpenAI
Paul Meade, a key figure in Apple's Vision Pro and future smart glasses development, is departing the company. He is moving to OpenAI to contribute to their AI hardware initiatives. Meade had been leading Apple's Vision Products Group, overseeing hardware engineering for the Vision Pro. Previously, he held roles on the iPad and iPhone engineering teams since joining Apple in 2010. More recently, he was instrumental in developing both the Vision Pro and Apple's upcoming AI smart glasses. His departure follows recent executive shifts within Apple's hardware division. John Ternus is reportedly taking over as CEO, while Johny Srouji is moving to chief hardware officer. These organizational changes have reportedly caused discontent among some hardware executives. Fletcher Rothkopf will assume Meade's responsibilities within the Vision Products Group. Notably, several former Apple employees, including Jony Ive, are already at OpenAI.
