Cook expressed condolences on social media, stating Apple's commitment to supporting on-the-ground efforts. This is Apple's fifth disaster relief pledge in just over two months, following contributions to crises in Indonesia, Venezuela, Southern Europe, and Japan. The pledge comes as Tim Cook prepares to step down as CEO. He will transition to the newly created executive chairman role on September 1. John Ternus is set to assume the CEO position. In his new role, Cook is anticipated to continue his involvement in policy matters.
