Apple Reference Image ensures anonymity by not publicly associating images with specific photographers or sensors. Instead, the final reference image is signed by Apple's service after validation by a Partitioned Cloud Compute (PCC) system. This signature is backed by Apple's strongest technical security. The system also protects image confidentiality, even from Apple itself. The PCC architecture prevents Apple from accessing image data, mirroring Apple Intelligence's privacy measures. While a revocation service tracks photo GUIDs and sensors, it lacks access to image content. Final revocation checks happen on-device, preventing the device from revealing which photo it is verifying.
