Apple Reminding Users of Pending Home App Upgrade Requirement

Apple is reminding users that support for the old Apple Home architecture will end on February 10, 2026. This change, initially intended for fall 2025, was announced in late 2022 and early 2023 with improved performance and compatibility. Failing to update will block access to the Home app, cause accessories and automations to malfunction, and prevent security and performance updates. The new architecture also unlocks features like guest access and activity history. To update, users need to go to the Software Update section within Home Settings in the Home app. Devices running iOS 16.2 or later, iPadOS 16.2 or later, macOS 13.1 or later, tvOS 16.2 or later, and watchOS 9.2 or later can support the new version. Older devices that cannot meet these updated software requirements will lose access to Apple Home. This requirement has led some users with older dedicated control devices to delay updating, but their time to do so is now limited.
