Apple has adjusted the M5 MacBook Pro's storage configurations alongside the new M5 Pro and Max models. The 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro no longer offers a 512GB storage option, shifting the base model to 1TB. Consequently, the starting price increased from $1,599 to $1,699, reflecting the larger storage capacity. While the base price rose, SSD upgrade costs have decreased, making higher storage configurations more affordable. Upgrading to 1TB now costs $1,699, compared to the previous $1,799. Upgrades of 2TB now cost $400, and 4TB upgrades cost $1,000, both representing price reductions. Apple is de-emphasizing stock configurations, moving toward customizable options. Pre-configured stock models have been updated with 1TB SSDs and larger RAM options. Standard M5 MacBook Pro configurations with updated storage are available for purchase immediately. The new M5 Pro and M5 Max models can be pre-ordered on March 4th and launched on March 11th. These changes offer users more storage at a similar or lower overall cost with less traditional preconfigured models.
