Apple Reportedly Boosts iPhone Duo Orders by 44%
Apple has reportedly increased production orders for its upcoming foldable iPhone, codenamed iPhone Duo, due to exceptionally strong pre-order demand. Supply chain sources indicate that Foxconn and component manufacturers have been instructed to produce an additional 4.3 million units, raising the total production target to 14 million devices. This revised target is for the full 12-month period following the device's launch. Apple itself described the demand as "nothing short of extraordinary." Within just 30 minutes of pre-orders opening, shipping estimates for all configurations were pushed to January 25 in the U.S. Achieving this higher shipment target may still face challenges due to previously reported manufacturing difficulties with assembly, displays, and hinges. DigiTimes forecasts significant growth in the global foldable smartphone market in the coming years, with Apple's entry expected to be a major contributor. The iPhone Duo is scheduled to launch on October 23, with a starting price of $1,999 in the United States.
