Apple Reportedly Working on New AirPods Pro, AirPods 5, and H3 Chip
Apple is already working on the next generation of AirPods Pro, potentially a "new version" rather than a distinct AirPods Pro 4. A year after the launch of AirPods Pro 2, they received a USB-C charging case and minor updates. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests significant hardware upgrades next year, including an infrared camera, possibly offering two tiers like the standard AirPods 4. Mark Gurman reports Apple is developing the next-generation H3 chip for improved audio quality and lower latency. This chip could debut in the next AirPods Pro, although the specifics are not confirmed. Apple is also planning two tiers of AirPods 5, but no heart rate monitoring. Future AirPods will include several new health features, such as temperature sensing. Cameras are also being considered for future AirPods models, potentially enabling in-air gestures and integration with Vision Pro. AirPods Pro 3 and AirPods 4 currently feature the H2 chip, while AirPods Max still use the H1 chip. New AirPods Max are expected to enter mass production in 2027.
