Apple Says iPhone Duo Has Replaceable 'Cover Layer'

Apple's vice president of hardware engineering, Kate Bergeron, shared details about the iPhone Duo's foldable display. She revealed that the nano-texture cover layer above the inner display is replaceable. This is a beneficial feature for customers who can remove and replace the layer. With AppleCare+, a replacement costs $19 in the U.S. The cover layer is designed to conceal the crease in the foldable screen. Apple invested considerable engineering effort to maximize its durability. However, customers can replace it if it shows wear or the crease becomes more noticeable. Replacements will likely be handled by Apple Stores and authorized service providers. The ease of self-replacement by customers is currently unknown. iPhone Duo pre-orders start October 16th, with the device launching on October 23rd.
