Apple accuses former Apple Watch engineer Chen Shi, now at Oppo, of stealing trade secret information. Shi allegedly presented detailed insights into Apple's sensor technology and future product plans to hundreds of Oppo employees. Apple claims these presentations included slides directly from Apple materials, and that Shi answered specific design questions. Oppo, however, denies receiving any Apple trade secrets from Shi, stating his presentation covered general engineering principles. Apple is seeking injunctive relief to prevent further disclosure and the use of its technology in Oppo products. The company also requested that employees exposed to trade secrets be quarantined. Oppo maintains its systems show no indication of receiving Apple trade secret information. Shi has agreed to a deposition but requested an extension due to a medical condition. The court ordered Oppo to provide requested documents by October 31st or on a rolling basis. Before leaving Apple, Shi downloaded numerous files and researched ways to conceal his actions. He also met with Apple Watch technical team members to gain knowledge. Shi reportedly told Oppo he would gather information on heart rate sensing methods. Apple's initial filing sought restitution, damages, and an injunction against Oppo and Shi.
