Apple is pressuring OLED suppliers to reduce prices for the iPhone 18 Pro Max panels. This is happening as the costs of other components like memory chips are increasing. The Elec reports that Apple aims to pay around $70 per panel, potentially even less. Industry estimates suggest Samsung Display and LG Display will supply them for approximately $66.50 each. This represents a significant price drop of about 20 percent compared to the iPhone 17 Pro Max. While OLED panel prices have historically declined with each iPhone generation, this year's reduction is particularly sharp. This is notable given the increased manufacturing complexity expected for the iPhone 18 OLED panels. The new panels will use Samsung Display's advanced M16 OLED material set for improved performance. Other smartphone manufacturers are also seeking to offset memory cost increases by cutting spending on components like displays and cameras. Samsung Display is projected to supply 46 million panels for the iPhone 18 lineup, with LG Display forecast to provide 41 million. The iPhone 18 Pro models are anticipated to launch in September alongside Apple's first foldable phone.
