Apple Settles Class Action Lawsuit Over AI Features That Were Advertised but Didn’t Ship for $250 Million

Follow
Apple will pay $250 million to settle a class action lawsuit about delayed "more personalized Siri" features. This lawsuit stemmed from the delayed launch of the features, first announced at WWDC 2024. The settlement equates to approximately $25 per device, potentially rising to $95 based on user claims. Apple is not admitting any wrongdoing as part of the settlement. They maintain they acted in good faith regarding regulations. An Apple spokesperson highlighted the release of numerous new features since the Apple Intelligence launch. These features include Visual Intelligence, Live Translation, and more. Apple resolved the matter to focus on product innovation. The $25 settlement seems appropriate given the circumstances. Apple's prior advertisements depicted features that were never released. Even with good intentions, the advertisements ultimately proved to be false.
