Apple Still Testing Ultra-Thin Glass to Eliminate Foldable iPhone Crease

Apple is reportedly developing ultra-thin flexible glass (UFG) for its foldable iPhone, aiming to eliminate the display crease. This new UFG utilizes uneven thickness, featuring thinner glass in the folding area for better flexibility. Unlike current foldables, this design distributes bending stress more evenly. The goal is to make the crease invisible during regular use. Apple is testing this UFG technology, with a potential launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro in 2026. This testing phase involves refining manufacturing and ensuring long-term reliability. Apple may have alternative ultra-thin glass (UTG) solutions if the UFG targets are unmet. The foldable iPhone is rumored to have a book-style design with an outer and inner display. It is expected to use liquid metal hinges and a price range of $2,000 to $2,500. This foldable will be Apple's most expensive iPhone to date.
