Apple Watch Series 12 Has Smal... Note

Apple Watch Series 12 Has Smaller Screens and Bigger Cases

The Apple Watch Series 12 features a smaller display area compared to Series 10 and Series 11. Despite this reduction, the pixel resolution remains the same across these generations. The 46mm Series 12 has a display area that is 2% smaller than its predecessors. Similarly, the 42mm version also saw a nearly 2% decrease in display size. Concurrently, the case dimensions for Series 12 have increased. The 46mm case is now a millimeter wider than on Series 10 and 11. The 42mm case also experienced a slight growth in width. This combination of a shrunken screen and a larger case results in wider borders around the display. Apple appears to have adjusted the design to make these borders even more noticeable. This pattern of a reduced display within a larger case has precedent in Apple Watch design. The Series 10, for instance, also exhibited larger visible bezels compared to the Series 9. However, the Series 12's case design is very similar to Series 10 and 11, not a full redesign. The Apple Watch Series 12 is priced starting at $399 and will be available on September 18.
