Apple Watches With Cameras Rumored, But FaceTime Unlikely

Apple is reportedly working on new Apple Watch models with built-in cameras, expected to be released by 2027. According to Mark Gurman, the cameras will be integrated into the screen area of a future Apple Watch Series model and on the right side of a future Apple Watch Ultra model. The cameras are not expected to enable FaceTime on the Apple Watch. Instead, they will enable a feature called Visual Intelligence, which allows users to quickly receive information about their surroundings. This feature would allow users to point their Apple Watch at an item or place to receive relevant information, such as a restaurant's hours or ratings. Visual Intelligence is already available on iPhone 16 models and iPhone 15 Pro models with iOS 18.4. The addition of cameras to the Apple Watch is part of Apple's plan to bring more AI capabilities to its wearables. Apple is also planning to add tiny cameras to future AirPods models, which will enhance AI capabilities. The new features are intended to help Apple compete with other AI-powered wearables on the market. The integration of cameras and AI capabilities is expected to be a significant update to the Apple Watch and AirPods product lines.
