Apple's Attempt To Pause App Store Antitrust Order Fails

Apple's request to pause the implementation of new App Store rules was rejected by the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. This means the new rules, stemming from a court order, will be enforced while Apple appeals the decision. The original order found Apple in contempt for circumventing previous injunctions regarding app store restrictions. Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers identified violations related to Apple's fees on out-of-app transactions and discouraging external payment options. Apple argued the ruling hindered its control over business operations and forced free service access. The court's denial of the motion allows compliance requirements to stand pending the final appeal outcome. Apple aimed to postpone enforcement to potentially reverse the changes implemented. Apple expressed disappointment and vowed to continue its appeal against the district court's opinion. The company maintains its goal is to preserve the App Store as a beneficial platform for developers and a safe user experience.
