The reorganization is reportedly tied to Apple's planned launch of a new Health+ subscription service next year. This service is expected to include an AI assistant offering personalized health recommendations. The consolidation aims to transform wellness initiatives into a more significant revenue stream for Apple. Craig Federighi will also take on oversight of watchOS software responsibilities. John Ternus will assume sole control of Apple Watch hardware engineering. Jeff Williams has been gradually transferring his duties in anticipation of his retirement. Sabih Khan has already assumed supply chain and operations responsibilities.
