Apple's OLED 'MacBook Ultra' Will Stick With M5 Pro and M5 Max Chips
Apple's forthcoming premium MacBook will feature an OLED touchscreen display. This new model will utilize current M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, not the next generation. It is slated for release between late this year and early next year. The laptop will come in 14- and 16-inch sizes with a redesigned chassis. A notable design inclusion will be the iPhone-style Dynamic Island. This touchscreen MacBook is anticipated to carry a higher price than the M5 Pro MacBook Pro. Interestingly, Apple is reportedly skipping M6 Pro/Max chips for more powerful M7 Pro/Max chips. The M7 chips are designed for enhanced AI capabilities with improved neural engines and graphics. A less advanced MacBook Pro with an M6 chip is still expected later this year. A future high-end MacBook with M7 chips is planned for late 2027, with Mac Studio refreshes in 2028.
