AT&T finally has a network test drive program

AT&T has introduced a trial program called Try AT&T, which allows users to test the AT&T network without committing to a contract. The program is currently iOS only and requires an eSIM-compatible device, such as an iPhone XR or newer. To participate, users need to visit the Try AT&T website or download the myAT&T app. The trial lasts for 30 days and includes 100GB of data and 25GB of hotspot data. Users must not be current AT&T customers to participate. T-Mobile and Verizon have similar trial programs, with T-Mobile offering a 3-month trial and Verizon providing a 30-day trial. To take advantage of these programs, users need an unlocked phone, which can be a challenge if their device is still under a carrier's financing plan. The FCC has proposed a rule to simplify the unlocking process by requiring carriers to automatically unlock devices 60 days after activation. This proposal could make comparison shopping between carriers easier in the future.
