Australia news live: First Nations groups plan national rallies in response to Camp Sovereignty attack

The former Australian ambassador to Russia, Peter Tesch, commented on a virtual meeting of world leaders supporting Ukraine. He described the meeting of the "coalition of the willing" as a positive development. Tesch expressed frustration that a credible peace settlement remains elusive due to Russia's actions. He believes additional pressure on Moscow is necessary for a near-term solution. Despite Ukraine's willingness to negotiate, the lack of progress is evident. The former ambassador also highlighted the importance of President Trump's continued engagement in dialogue. Separately, a case for a 35% pay increase for nurses and midwives over three years will be presented in the NSW Industrial Relations Commission. This significant industrial case will include evidence on the gendered undervaluation of their work. The professions have also experienced substantial work value changes over the past 16 years. The evidence will be presented to support the pay rise claim.
