AWS Direct Connect announces flat-rate pricing for dedicated connections
AWS Direct Connect now offers flat-rate pricing for its dedicated 10 Gbps and 100 Gbps connections. Previously, customers paid based on port hours and data transfer out, which could lead to unpredictable costs for high-volume users. This new pricing model introduces a single fixed monthly fee that removes data transfer charges within a chosen tier. This simplifies budgeting for network architects and IT teams who require predictable expenses. The flat-rate pricing is determined by the connection bandwidth and the geographic scope selected. Five geographic tiers are available, ranging from same-metro to global coverage. A new port-pair concept is also introduced, which provides built-in resiliency by including a second, redundant connection at no extra cost. This port-pair configuration is recommended for increased reliability. Flat-rate pricing is available globally at all AWS Direct Connect locations, excluding China. It applies only to Dedicated Connections and customers can switch between billing modes at any time. More details can be found on the AWS Direct Connect Flat-Rate Pricing, User Guide, and Pricing Guide pages.
