AWS enters the context layer race with a graph that learns from agents, not manual curation

Amazon is launching a new suite of products aimed at automating the creation and maintenance of context layers for AI agents. The centerpiece is AWS Context, a novel knowledge graph service designed to learn and improve over time based on agent usage. Complementing this are Amazon S3 Annotations, which add business context directly to data in S3, and AWS Glue Data Catalog skill assets, linking domain knowledge to data assets. AWS Context automatically builds a knowledge graph by inferring relationships across existing data sources, business rules, and domain knowledge. This service aims to make AI agents smarter without requiring manual re-curation of the graph by users. Data stewards can manage the graph through the AWS Management Console, reviewing and promoting inferred relationships. All metadata is published in Apache Iceberg format to Amazon S3 Tables, ensuring broad query compatibility. The entire context intelligence stack is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing AWS services like S3, Glue, and Lake Formation, minimizing data movement and integration friction. This move positions AWS to compete in a growing market for AI context solutions, addressing the need for agents to access and understand enterprise data effectively.
