Mitochondria communicate extensively with the rest of the cell via metabolic and signalling pathways, but usually not as much by vesicle trafficking. A recent study expands this view by proposing that mitochondrial-derived vesicles deliver machinery that drives lysosome fission as part of a lysosome quality control process.
