Android is evolving into an intelligence system, creating new app engagement opportunities. Gemini Intelligence, a suite of new features, is being introduced for advanced Android devices. Gemini will automate tasks within selected apps, driving high-intent traffic without major code changes. AppFunctions allow developers to provide specific tools and actions to the OS for enhanced user experiences. Widgets are expanding to new form factors, starting with cars, supported by Jetpack Glance and RemoteCompose. Developers can build adaptively across various form factors like foldables and XR headsets. Jetpack Navigation 3 and Compose updates aid in creating responsive layouts. The Car App Library and Android XR SDK provide tools for device-differentiated experiences. Gemini Intelligence features will begin rolling out on select phones this summer and expand later this year. This shift aims to enhance user experiences and position developers at the forefront.
