Building Generative Pages in Power Platform

Generative Pages are a new AI-powered feature in Power Apps enabling users to design model-driven app pages using natural language prompts. These pages automatically generate React components and connect to Dataverse, streamlining the app creation process. Users describe their desired layouts and functionalities, and Power Apps generates a complete, responsive page. The key features include conversational page creation, Dataverse integration, auto-generated React code, and support for design references. To get started, users need a US region environment with Copilot and AI features enabled, working within a model-driven app. The creation process involves opening the app designer, initiating a new Generative Page, writing a detailed prompt, connecting Dataverse tables, and optionally, uploading a design reference. Users can then refine the page through further conversational prompts and must publish the page separately. Best practices for prompts involve specifying data, layout, and using visual references while making incremental changes. Generative Pages have limitations like Dataverse data source restriction and regional availability, but offer very fast development. They are suitable for rapid interface development and Dataverse-centric applications, while standard pages provide more customization and non-Dataverse data access. Generative Pages revolutionize app design by efficiently reducing development time, allowing focus on overall user experience, and providing a quick path to polished applications.
